OTR Elected to NBCOT’s Board of Directors
NBCOT welcomes Sancler Andrade, OTD, OTR/L, to our board of directors!
OTR and COTA certificants had the opportunity to vote for one new member to join NBCOT’s board of directors. Thousands of certificants participated and elected Sancler Andrade, OTD, OTR/L.
Sancler is an OTR from Dallas, Texas, who currently practices in acute care and inpatient rehabilitation. Sancler has been a certified OTR for 17 years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of São Paulo in Brazil. He also has a master’s degree in business administration from Florida International University and an OTD from Columbia University in New York.
As an internationally trained occupational therapist and immigrant, Sancler is deeply committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. He believes that diversity enriches perspectives, drives innovation, and strengthens communities. His experiences advocating for underserved communities in Brazil and Texas have reinforced his belief that everyone deserves dignity and fairness. He is passionate about addressing systemic barriers and providing tailored support to marginalized individuals, enabling them to engage fully in life. Sancler says his commitment to diversity and inclusion “is not just a checkbox but a fundamental aspect of how I can be a better occupational therapist, and I am certainly grateful to my profession for giving me this opportunity.”
Sancler has volunteered with NBCOT on various committees for two years. He believes that volunteering as a board member offers a unique opportunity to leverage his skills and expertise to advance NBCOT's mission. Sancler states, “I am eager to volunteer as a board member because I believe in the power of collective action to drive positive change. I am motivated by the prospect of working alongside individuals with diverse perspectives and backgrounds, broadening my horizons, and contributing to meaningful change.”
